Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest Watch Order
Hajime Nagumo's whole class is summoned to a fantasy world, where he gets the weakest job, Synergist. Betrayed and dropped into the depths of a labyrinth, he claws his way back as a ruthless gunsmith with the vampire Yue at his side. Based on Ryo Shirakome's light novels.
First time? Watch the 7-minute Prologue first (Season 1 skips the setup), then Seasons 1, 2 and 3. The Blu-ray specials and the 2022 OVA are optional extras.
Story Order
The Prologue moves to the front, since it shows the class being summoned. The 2022 OVA is really set during Season 2, after the Melusine labyrinth, but it's simplest after the whole season. The episode 5.5 recap is left out.
- Arifureta: Prologue (Episode 0)
A 7-minute short showing what Season 1 jumps past: the class being summoned and Hajime getting the Synergist job. Released after Season 1, but it goes first in story order and helps a lot with Season 1's abrupt start.
- Arifureta (Season 1)
Light novel volumes 1 to 4, heavily compressed: Hajime's escape from the Orcus abyss with Yue (episodes 1–5), meeting Shea and the Raisen labyrinth (6–7), then the town of Ur, Tio and the monster horde. It opens mid-story in the abyss, with the summoning shown only in flashbacks. Made by White Fox and asread.
- Arifureta Specials (Yue's Diary, Hot Love Springs Eternal) (optional)
Two short comedy and fan-service episodes from the Japanese Blu-ray boxes: the girls find Yue's diary at a hot spring, then talk about how they each met Hajime. Set after Season 1. Optional.
- Arifureta Season 2
Light novel volumes 4 (the end) to 6: the classmates' troubles in Orcus and Kaori joining Hajime, the little girl Myu and the seaside town of Erisen, the Melusine undersea labyrinth, and the attack on the kingdom's capital. A new studio pairing (asread. and Studio Mother) and a new director took over.
- Arifureta OVA: The Miraculous Meeting and the Phantasmagorical Adventure (optional)
A 40-minute side story released with a light novel volume. It's set partway through Season 2, after the Melusine labyrinth and before the group leaves Myu in Erisen: they're pulled into a ruined city, Myu goes missing, and they meet Liberators from the past. Easiest to watch after Season 2. Optional.
- Arifureta: From a Detour to the World's Strongest (Season 2 special) (optional)
A full-length comedy episode from the Season 2 Blu-ray: Hajime, the girls and Myu on a silly detour full of costume changes. Watch it after Season 2. Optional.
- Arifureta Season 3
Light novel volumes 7 to 10: the Haulia bunnies' revolt against the Empire, the Haltina sea of trees labyrinth, the ice cavern and the final labyrinth. Made by asread. Light novel readers can pick up from volume 11.

Explained
Why does Season 1 feel so rushed and confusing?
Season 1 squeezes four light novel volumes into 13 episodes and starts in the middle of the story, deep in the labyrinth, with the class summoning only in flashbacks. Watching the 7-minute Prologue first fills in that setup. Seasons 2 and 3 were made by a different team.
Do I need the specials and OVAs?
No. The two 2019–20 specials and the Detour episode are light comedy and fan service from the Blu-rays. The 2022 OVA is a proper side adventure with new characters tied to the Liberators' history, so it's the one most worth watching, but nothing in Season 3 depends on it.
Why do episode numbers differ between sites?
Some lists number the whole show straight through (Season 2 starting at episode 14, Season 3 at 27) and some count the recap or the Detour special as episodes. AniList and most streaming services restart at 1 for each season.
Is it dubbed?
Yes. Seasons 1 and 2 and the Detour special were dubbed by Funimation, and Season 3 and the 2022 OVA by Crunchyroll.
Is there a Season 4?
Not as of October 2026: no fourth season has been announced. Season 3 ends around light novel volume 10, and the main story finishes at volume 14. The prequel Arifureta Zero exists only as novels and manga.
