Privacy policy

Order of Anime doesn't ask for any personal information unless you choose to use Watch Party, which needs an account. This page explains what happens when you use the site, and what Watch Party stores.

Stored on your device

The site saves a few things in your browser's local storage so they're still there next time: which entries you've ticked as watched, your filter choices, and a cache of cover images. This stays on your device; it isn't sent to us, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Watch Party accounts

Watch Party (at /party) is optional. If you use it, here is what it stores and who can see it.

  • Your sign-in. Your email address, or the account you signed in with if you use Google or Discord, along with the name that account provides. Your email is never shown to other people.
  • Your profile. The display name and colour you choose, and your AniList username if you add one for importing.
  • Your groups and what you do in them. Which groups you're in, the shows on their boards, which episode you're on for each show, the comments you post, the "watch together" pings you send and receive, and a short activity history (for example "watched ep 5").

Who can see it. Only people in the same group as you. They see your display name and colour; your progress only for shows on a board you share; and your comments only in that group, and only once they've watched the episode you're talking about. Nobody outside your groups, including other visitors to the site, can see any of it. The site owner can see the database to run the service and to review comments that people report.

Reports. If someone reports a comment, a copy of it is kept with the report so it can be reviewed, even if the comment is later deleted.

Keeping or deleting it. Everything stays until you delete it. You can delete your own comments, leave a group, or delete your whole account from the Account page, which removes your profile, progress, comments and pings. Your browser keeps a sign-in token in local storage so you stay signed in; signing out removes it.

No selling, no ads. Watch Party data isn't sold or used for advertising.

Services the site uses

  • Hosting (Netlify). Like any web host, Netlify receives standard request information such as your IP address and browser type in order to serve the pages.
  • AniList. Search results, franchise lists and cover images are loaded directly from AniList, so your browser connects to AniList's servers. See AniList's terms and privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts. The site's fonts are loaded from Google, so your browser connects to Google's servers. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Supabase. Only if you use Watch Party: Supabase hosts its database and handles sign-in and sign-in emails. See Supabase's privacy policy. If you sign in with Google or Discord, that service also knows you signed in here.
  • GoatCounter. Counts page views and general information such as country, browser, screen size and the page you came from, without cookies and without tracking you across other sites. See GoatCounter's privacy policy.

Advertising

The site doesn't show ads at the moment. If that changes, this page will be updated before any ads appear to describe the ad partner, the data it collects and the choices you have, including any consent you'll be asked for.

Links to other sites

Guides link to AniList and other sites. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave Order of Anime.

Children

The site doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children. Watch Party accounts are for people aged 13 and over; if you believe a younger child has made one, contact us and we'll delete it.
