Cardfight!! Vanguard watch order

Shy Aichi Sendou gets the card Blaster Blade and learns Vanguard, chasing a rematch with the aloof Toshiki Kai; introduces the shop Card Capital, Team Q4 and the power called PSY Qualia. Start here for the original story.

Season 2: Aichi's team enters an overseas tournament circuit while Kai goes his own way. Continues straight from season 1.

Season 3: the invading Link Joker clan and its 'Reverse' corruption spread through the cast's school and city. Widely seen as the high point of the original series.

Season 4: Aichi has vanished and been erased from everyone's memory, and Kai sets out to find him. The weakest-regarded season and the only one Bushiroad never dubbed, but it's canon and ends the Aichi story.

A cinema double bill: the anime half, Neon Messiah, has Aichi and Kai invited to a tournament while units vanish from cards worldwide, and introduces the antagonist Kouji Ibuki; the other half was a live-action film. Set after Legion Mate and leads into G, where Ibuki becomes a main character.

Three years after Legion Mate, with a new lead: apathetic Chrono Shindou finds a deck in his locker and forms Team TRY3 with Tokoha and Shion. Same world as the original; the old cast turn up as adults.

The second G season, continuing TRY3's story.

The third G season, which closes the GIRS Crisis storyline.

The fourth G season, with a new tournament arc; animation moves to OLM from here.

The last G season and the end of the original continuity, bringing the whole Aichi-and-Chrono timeline to a close.

A reboot that retells Aichi's story from the start with new designs and a reworked card game. A separate continuity from the 2011 series, so it's a second place to begin.

Continues the 2018 series into the Vanguard High School Koshien tournament; ends on Ibuki's nightmares, which set up what follows.

The third V-series season is a prequel set about ten years before Aichi, about Shinemon Nitta taking over the struggling Card Capital. Loosely based on Akira Ito's manga. Watch it where it aired, after High School Arc Cont.

The V series' final season is a side story: Kouji Ibuki is pulled into an 'if' world where Vanguard doesn't exist, and works with Emi Sendou and the card fairy Shuka to restore history. Optional, but it's the V series' actual ending.

A fresh start with a new cast and CLAMP character designs: shy Yu-yu Kondo runs away from home in Kanazawa and falls in with Team Blackout, who fight Vanguard at a night-time amusement park. Nothing earlier is needed.

Continues the overDress story to its climax at Nagoya Castle.

Four months after overDress, Yu-yu and friends are invited to the Vanguard DELUXE tournament. Same cast, same continuity.
