Digimon Adventure watch order

Seven kids at summer camp are pulled into the Digital World, meet their partner Digimon and fight Devimon on File Island and then Etemon, before learning that there's an eighth DigiDestined.

A 20-minute short by Mamoru Hosoda, released the day before the series premiered. Set years before it: young Tai and Kari hatch a Digimon from their computer and it fights another giant Digimon in their neighbourhood. A prequel, but it's best watched after episode 29 because it gives away who the eighth DigiDestined is.

The fight with Myotismon spills into Tokyo as the hunt for the eighth child goes on, then the kids return to the Digital World to face the Dark Masters. The end of the original series.

A 40-minute Hosoda film set about half a year after the series: a Digimon born on the internet starts wrecking networks, and Tai and Izzy fight it online. Fits between Adventure and 02; the 02 film Revenge of Diaboromon is its sequel.

Set in 2002, three years after Adventure. New DigiDestined led by Davis take on the Digimon Emperor, with TK and Kari on the team and the original kids as mentors.

A two-part film set during 02's summer holidays: the original kids vanish in America, and Davis, TK and Kari team up with a boy named Wallace (Willis in the dub) to find them. Fits between episodes 21 and 22; some prefer it after 02 since it shows later forms.

After the summer break, new enemies attack both worlds, building to the final battle with MaloMyotismon. The last episode jumps 25 years ahead to show the kids as adults.

A 30-minute sequel to Our War Game, set three months after MaloMyotismon's defeat: Diaboromon returns online and both generations of DigiDestined team up. Watch after episode 49, or after the whole series.

Set in 2005, three years after 02: the original kids, now in high school, reunite with their partners when infected Digimon start appearing in the real world. The first of six films, also streamed as a 26-episode series.

Picks up straight after Reunion as the infected Digimon keep appearing.

The third film, centred more on Meiko, a new DigiDestined, and her partner Meicoomon.

The fourth film continues directly from Confession's ending.

The fifth film, leading straight into the finale.

The final tri. film wraps up the story of Meiko and Meicoomon.

Set in 2010, with Tai and Matt now at university, as DigiDestined around the world fall victim to a mysterious new enemy. Billed as the last adventure of the original kids; follows tri. but works mostly on its own.

The 02 kids' send-off, set in 2012: Davis and the others meet Rui, a boy who says he was the first human ever to have a Digimon partner. A sequel to Kizuna.

A free four-minute video for the 25th anniversary in which adult Tai and Matt help children whose partner Digimon are being hunted. Optional, and it doesn't say exactly when it's set.
