Kamisama Kiss watch order
Homeless high schooler Nanami Momozono accepts a stranger's offer of a place to stay and wakes up as the new land god of a run-down shrine, with a grumpy fox spirit, Tomoe, as her familiar. A supernatural romantic comedy based on Julietta Suzuki's manga, made by TMS Entertainment.
First time? Watch Season 1 and Kamisama Kiss◎ (Season 2), then the OVAs Kako-hen (Tomoe's past) and Kamisama, Shiawase ni Naru, which shows the ending. The 2013 OVA is an optional extra between the seasons.
Story order
Story order is the same as release order. Kako-hen isn't a prequel even though it's set in the past: present-day Nanami travels back in time, later in the manga than Season 2.
- Kamisama Kiss (Season 1)
Nanami becomes the shrine's god and slowly earns Tomoe's respect. Covers the early manga, up to just before the Izumo arc, with some material rearranged and Otohiko brought in earlier than in the manga.
- Kamisama Kiss OVA (optional)
Two 14-minute side stories, "The God Gets Dumped" and "The God Goes to a Hot Spring", bundled with manga volume 16. Light fun after Season 1 that ends by teasing Season 2; safe to skip.
- Kamisama Kiss◎ (Season 2)
Nanami attends the gods' Divine Assembly in Izumo, then heads to Mount Kurama to deal with the tengu. Picks up where Season 1 ended and stops around chapter 64 of the manga.
- Kamisama Kiss: Kako-hen (Tomoe's past)
Tomoe's curse returns, and Nanami travels about 500 years into the past to learn who he was. Adapts manga volumes 14–17 and was released with limited editions of the manga; the chapters between Season 2 and this arc were never animated.
- Kamisama Kiss: Kamisama, Shiawase ni Naru
A 12-minute finale released with the official fanbook after the manga ended: Tomoe's choice to become human, Nanami's graduation and the wedding. It jumps straight to the ending, so a lot of the manga's final arc is left out.

Explained
Do I need the OVAs?
The 2013 OVA is optional fun. Kako-hen is the important one: it adapts the arc about Tomoe's past and his curse, which explains a lot about him. Kamisama, Shiawase ni Naru is a short epilogue that shows how it all ends.
Does Kako-hen follow straight on from Season 2?
No. Season 2 ends around chapter 64, and Kako-hen picks up at a later arc (manga volumes 14–17), skipping the chapters in between. The final OVA then jumps to the very end. If you want the full story, the manga fills the gaps.
Is Kamisama Kiss dubbed?
Seasons 1 and 2 have English dubs by Funimation, now on Crunchyroll. The OVAs were never released by Funimation, and no English dub of them has been announced. In July 2026 Crunchyroll started streaming the OVA episodes outside Japan for the first time.
Where should I start the manga after the anime?
After Season 2, read from around chapter 65 to the end; that covers everything the anime skipped, including the run-up to Kako-hen and the full final arc. Some readers start from chapter 1, since the anime cut and rearranged early material. The manga is complete in 25 volumes, published in English by Viz.
Is there a Season 3?
No. The manga ended in 2016 and the two OVAs adapted parts of its final volumes. No new anime has been announced as of October 2026.
