Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You watch order

Sawako Kuronuma is so shy and gloomy-looking that classmates call her Sadako, after the ghost from The Ring, until the popular Shota Kazehaya starts talking to her. A slow, gentle high-school romance about friendship and first love, based on Karuho Shiina's shojo manga.

First time? Watch season 1 (25 episodes), season 2 (12) and the five feature-length episodes of season 3 on Netflix, in that order. The recap special and the chibi shorts can be skipped.

Story order

Story and release order are the same: each season continues straight from the last. The two optional extras sit where they came out.

  1. Kimi ni Todoke (Season 1) TV, 2009–10, 25 episodes

Sawako's first year: Kazehaya befriends her, she makes real friends in Ayane and Chizuru, and rumours and Kurumi's rivalry test them (roughly episodes 9–15). Episode 16 is a recap of episodes 1–15 and can be skipped.

  2. Kimi ni Todoke: Kataomoi (optional) Special, 2011, 1 episode

A TV special that aired a week before season 2, retelling season 1 from Kurumi's point of view. Often listed as season 2 episode 0. A recap with new framing; optional.

  3. Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season TV, 2011, 12 episodes

Picks up straight after season 1: Valentine's Day, second year, and the new classmate Kento stirring up misunderstandings, until Sawako and Kazehaya finally confess. Some databases count it as 13 episodes by including the Kataomoi special.

  4. Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season Specials (Minitodo Theater) (optional) Special, 2011, 3 episodes

Three chibi fairy-tale parodies of about five minutes each (a Cinderella story starring Kurumi, Snow White, and Romeo and Juliet) from the season 2 DVDs and Blu-rays. Non-canon fun; optional.

  5. Kimi ni Todoke 3rd Season ONA, 2024, 5 episodes

Thirteen years later, Production I.G and the original voice cast return for five feature-length (about 67-minute) episodes, released all at once on Netflix on August 1, 2024. Continues from the next manga chapter after season 2: Sawako and Kazehaya as a couple, the school trip to Okinawa, and Ryu and Chizuru's story.

Release order

Seasons 1 and 2 aired in 2009–11; season 3 arrived on Netflix in 2024 after a 13-year gap.

Explained

Is season 3 really only five episodes?

Yes. Netflix released it as five episodes of roughly 67 minutes each, so it's about as long as a normal 12-episode season. It's not a film or a recap: it continues the story from the chapter after season 2 ends.

Does the anime finish the manga?

No. The manga ran from 2005 to 2017 and has 30 volumes; season 3 stops at about volume 18. The rest (third year, university plans and the ending) is manga-only so far. To continue, pick up the manga around volume 18.

Is there a season 4?

Nothing has been announced as of October 2026.

What can I skip?

There's no anime-original filler. The only skippable pieces are season 1's recap episode (16), the Kataomoi special (season 1 retold from Kurumi's side) and the three Minitodo chibi shorts. A ten-minute digest of seasons 1 and 2 was also put online before season 3; it's a recap too.

Is there a dub?

Yes for seasons 1 and 2: Netflix added an English dub in February 2024, ahead of season 3.
