KonoSuba watch order
Shut-in gamer Kazuma Satou dies, gets sent to a fantasy world, and drags the goddess Aqua along as his one free item. With the explosion-obsessed Megumin and the masochistic knight Darkness, he forms the most useless party in town. A comedy based on Natsume Akatsuki's light novels.
First time? Watch Season 1, Season 2 and the film Legend of Crimson, then Season 3. Watch the Megumin prequel An Explosion on This Wonderful World! any time after Season 2, and the OVAs whenever you like.
First-timer order
The main story plus the Megumin prequel, in the order they came out. Explosion is more fun once you know the cast, so it's best after Season 2 and the film rather than first. Add the OVAs wherever you like.
- KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!
Kazuma arrives with Aqua, recruits Megumin and Darkness, and the party scrapes through jobs against the Demon King's general Verdia and the giant Mobile Fortress Destroyer. Adapts light novels 1–2.
- KonoSuba 2
Kazuma is put on trial over the Destroyer's damage, Megumin's rival Yunyun appears, and the party ends up at the hot-spring town of Arcanretia, home of Aqua's Axis Church. Adapts light novels 3–4.
- KonoSuba: Legend of Crimson
Yunyun asks the party to her and Megumin's Crimson Demon village, which the Demon King's army is threatening. Adapts light novel 5. Not optional: Season 3 picks up after it.
- KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!
A prequel spin-off about Megumin's school days in the Crimson Demon village with Yunyun, her sister Komekko and a black kitten, set about a year before Season 1. It ends as Megumin arrives in Axel, leading straight into the main story. Adapts the three-volume Explosion spin-off novels.
- KonoSuba 3
Princess Iris invites the party to the royal capital to hear Kazuma's adventures, and he ends up chasing a phantom thief and staying at the castle. Adapts light novels 6–7.
Story order
Explosion comes first because it's a prequel. The Choker OVA is placed after Season 2 episode 5, as most chronological guides do; it only needs to come after Yunyun's debut in episode 2.

Explained
Do I need the movie?
Yes. Legend of Crimson adapts light novel 5, and Season 3 continues from it with light novels 6–7. Skipping it leaves a gap.
Are the OVAs canon? Where do they go?
They're standalone comedy side stories, not adaptations of the main novel plot, so you can skip them without missing anything. The Choker OVA came out between Seasons 1 and 2 but takes place during Season 2, since Yunyun is in it. The Works of Art OVA goes after Season 2, and the two Bonus Stage episodes go after Season 3.
When should I watch An Explosion on This Wonderful World!?
It's a prequel about Megumin, set about a year before Season 1 and ending where she meets Kazuma. Most fans suggest watching it after Season 2 or the film, not first, because it leans on already knowing Megumin and Yunyun.
Why does it look different from season to season?
The studio keeps changing. Studio Deen made Seasons 1–2 and the first two OVAs, J.C.Staff made Legend of Crimson, Drive made Explosion, Season 3 and Bonus Stage, and Season 4 is being made by studio ENGI. The main voice cast has stayed the same.
What's next? What is Isekai Quartet?
Season 4 was confirmed at the 10th-anniversary event in January 2026, and in July 2026 it was set for 2027 at studio ENGI, with no exact date yet. Isekai Quartet is a separate chibi crossover where the KonoSuba cast shares a school with characters from Overlord, Re:Zero, Saga of Tanya the Evil and later The Rising of the Shield Hero. It has three seasons (2019, 2020, 2025) and a 2022 film, and isn't part of KonoSuba's story.
