Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation watch order

A 34-year-old shut-in dies and is reborn as Rudeus Greyrat in a world of magic, keeping his old memories. The story follows his whole new life, from childhood on, as he tries not to repeat his mistakes.

First time? Watch Season 1, Season 2 (starting with episode 0) and Season 3 in release order. Add the Eris the Goblin Slayer OVA after Season 1 episode 16, or after Season 1.

Story order

Almost the same as release order. The Eris OVA moves inside Season 1, after episode 16, where its events happen. Season 2's episode 0 and Season 3's opening Eris episodes are flashbacks that the show places itself, so leave them where they are.

  1. Season 1 Part 1 TV, 2021, 11 episodes

Rudeus's childhood in Buena Village, then tutoring the hot-tempered noble girl Eris in Roa. Turning Point 1 (episode 8) throws him onto the Demon Continent, where the long trip home begins with the warrior Ruijerd.

  2. Season 1 Part 2, episodes 12–16 TV, 2021, 5 episodes

The rest of the Demon Continent and the crossing to Millis, where Rudeus finally finds his father Paul in episode 16.

  3. Eris the Goblin Slayer (optional) OVA, 2022, 1 episode

A Blu-ray bonus episode showing what Eris and Ruijerd were up to in Millis while Rudeus was with Paul in episode 16. It also introduces Cliff, who matters in Season 2. Optional.

  4. Season 1 Part 2, episodes 17–23 TV, 2021, 7 episodes

The final stretch home to the Asura Kingdom, Turning Point 2 (episode 21) and its aftermath.

  5. Season 2 Part 1 TV, 2023, 13 episodes

Starts with episode 0, Guardian Fitz, which shows what happened to Rudeus's childhood friend Sylphie after Turning Point 1. Then a low Rudeus drifts as an adventurer before enrolling at Ranoa University of Magic.

  6. Season 2 Part 2 TV, 2024, 12 episodes

Episodes 13–24. Rudeus builds a family life and takes in his younger sisters, until Turning Point 3 (episode 18) sends him to the Begaritt Continent and the Teleportation Labyrinth.

  7. Season 3 Part 1 TV, 2026, 14 episodes

Episodes 1–2 step back to show Eris's training after she left at the end of Season 1. The rest moves forward with Rudeus's life at home, Perugius's flying fortress and Turning Point 4 (episode 11). Part 2 follows in 2027.

Release order

The best first watch. The only extra is the Eris OVA, which came out after Season 1 finished; watching it here, before Season 2, works fine.

Explained

Where does Eris the Goblin Slayer go?

It's set during Season 1 episode 16, while Rudeus is busy with Paul, and fan guides put it between episodes 16 and 17. Some viewers find it breaks the flow of that reunion, so watching it after Season 1 is just as good. It's optional, but it introduces Cliff before he shows up in Season 2.

Do I watch Season 2's episode 0?

Yes, first. Guardian Fitz aired as the Season 2 premiere, a week before episode 1, and follows Sylphie after the disaster in Season 1. Season 2 makes more sense with it.

Are there recaps or filler?

No recap episodes and no anime-original filler arcs. Season 1 adapts light novel volumes 1–6 and Season 2 volumes 7–12; Season 3 picks up from volume 13. The only extra is the Eris OVA.

Why does Season 3 start with Eris?

Its first two episodes are a flashback to Eris's training during the time-skip after Season 1, before the story returns to Rudeus. They aired as part of Season 3, so watch them in place.

Is there more coming?

Yes. Season 3 Part 1 finished in September 2026, and Part 2 was announced for 2027 with no exact date yet. A heads-up for new viewers: Rudeus starts out as a lecherous, self-pitying man in a child's body, and some early scenes played for comedy have drawn criticism. His growth is the point of the story, but that side of him never fully goes away.
