My Happy Marriage watch order
In a Taisho-style Japan where some families carry supernatural Gifts, Miyo Saimori, mistreated by her stepfamily and born without a Gift of her own, is married off to Kiyoka Kudo, a military commander said to scare off every fiancée. A slow, gentle healing romance with a supernatural plot underneath, based on Akumi Agitogi's light novels.
First time? Watch Season 1, then the OVA The Shape of My Happiness (Netflix calls it episode 13), then Season 2 and the 2026 Special Episodes.
Story order
Story order is release order. The OVA happens between the seasons, and the 2026 specials continue straight from Season 2's ending.
- My Happy Marriage (Season 1)
Adapts the first two novels. Miyo arrives at the Kudo house expecting the worst, slowly learns to trust Kiyoka and his sister Hazuki, and the secret of her late mother's family surfaces as her stepfamily keeps making trouble.
- My Happy Marriage: The Shape of My Happiness
A single unaired episode, released on Blu-ray with a special edition of novel 8 and later added to Netflix as episode 13. It picks up right after the Season 1 finale, with Miyo attending a party after her etiquette lessons with Hazuki. Light and optional, but it's canon and sits between the seasons.
- My Happy Marriage Season 2
Numbered as episodes 14–26. Miyo and Kiyoka visit the Kudo family villa, where his mother Fuyu refuses to accept her, and a new enemy, Naoshi Usui and his Gifted Communion, moves against the military. The last two episodes were delayed in Japan and released together.
- My Happy Marriage Special Episodes
Three new episodes released together on October 25, 2026, on Japanese TV and Netflix worldwide. A direct continuation of Season 2: with the Gifted Communion dealt with, the couple prepare for their wedding, and Miyo meets an old classmate at a cooking class. New story, not a recap.
Release order
Season 1 aired in summer 2023, the OVA came in March 2024, Season 2 in early 2025, and the three special episodes dropped all at once on October 25, 2026.

Explained
Why does Season 2 start at episode 14?
Netflix lists the OVA, The Shape of My Happiness, as Season 1 episode 13, so Season 2 is numbered 14–26. You haven't missed anything as long as you've watched the OVA.
Are the 2026 special episodes a third season?
No. Kadokawa and the studio call them a three-episode special, though Netflix shows them as a new season in some listings. They're a real continuation (the wedding storyline that follows Season 2) by the same studio, director and cast, not a recap. No full third season had been announced as of October 2026.
What about the live-action film?
The 2023 Toho film with Mio Imada and Ren Meguro is a separate adaptation of the first two novels, not part of the anime. Watch it as an extra if you're curious; it isn't needed.
Novel or manga?
The anime adapts Akumi Agitogi's light novels (Yen Press in English), roughly novels 1–2 for Season 1 and 3–6 for Season 2. Rito Kohsaka's manga is its own adaptation of the same novels and runs well behind the anime. Novel 8 is a short-story collection about Kiyoka's youth; the OVA was bundled with it but isn't adapted from it.
Where can I watch it in English?
Netflix streams everything worldwide (outside mainland China), with an English dub from the first episode of Season 1 onward.
