No Game No Life Watch Order

Shut-in step-siblings Sora and Shiro, the unbeaten gamer duo known as Blank, are pulled into Disboard, a world where every dispute between its sixteen races is settled by games. Based on Yuu Kamiya's light novels, animated by Madhouse.

First time? Watch the TV series, then the prequel film No Game No Life: Zero. The six mini specials are optional.

First-Timer Order

Watch the series first. Zero works on its own, but its frame story and ending pay off things the series sets up, such as Tet, Jibril's race and the Great War.

  1. No Game, No Life TV, 2014, 12 episodes

Light novel volumes 1 to 3: Sora and Shiro win the throne of Elkia from Chlammy Zell, take on the Flügel Jibril in a word-chain game, then challenge the Werebeast nation, the Eastern Union, and the girl Izuna. It ends after volume 3.

  2. No Game No Life: Zero Movie, 2017

Adapts light novel volume 6: 6,000 years before the series, during the Great War, a human named Riku and an Ex-Machina named Schwi try to end the fighting. A prequel with a new lead pair, and it explains how Disboard came to be ruled by games.

Story Order

Zero is set 6,000 years before Sora and Shiro arrive, so it goes first. It's better as a second watch, though.

Explained

Is No Game No Life: Zero Season 2?

No. Zero is a prequel set 6,000 years earlier, with Riku and Schwi as the leads; Sora and Shiro don't star in it. It adapts light novel volume 6, so volumes 4 and 5 (what comes after the series) still haven't been animated.

Should I watch Zero first?

You can, since it's self-contained, but most watch guides put it after the series. You'll get more out of its ending knowing who Tet and Jibril are and what the Ten Covenants replaced.

Is there a Season 2?

No. As of October 2026 no second season has been announced, and in January 2025 author Yuu Kamiya said the rumors going around were fake. The light novels are still going (volume 13 came out in Japan in April 2026); start at volume 4 to continue after the anime.

Is it dubbed, and where can I watch it?

Sentai Filmworks dubbed both the series and Zero. Streaming in the US has shifted: it left Crunchyroll in 2022 and HIDIVE in May 2026, so check the links on each entry or buy the Blu-ray.
