One-Punch Man watch order
Saitama trained until he could beat any opponent with a single punch, and now he's bored. ONE's webcomic, redrawn as a manga by Yusuke Murata, became a three-season anime (so far) about a hero too strong for his own story and the hero association that barely notices him.
First time? Watch Season 1, then Season 2 and Season 3. The OVA shorts and Road to Hero are fun extras you can add after Season 1.
Story order
Road to Hero first because it's a prequel to Saitama's hero career, then the seasons with their OVA shorts. The shorts are each set between specific episodes, but they're light comedy and don't change anything, so watching them after each season is easiest.
- One-Punch Man: Road to Hero (optional)
A 20-minute OVA packed with manga volume 10 in Japan. It's a prequel about Saitama's early hero days, his rent troubles and how he got his costume, but it's usually watched after Season 1 because it assumes you know him. Optional.
- One-Punch Man
Madhouse's first season covers manga chapters 1–37: Saitama's early fights, joining the Hero Association with his disciple Genos, the Deep Sea King and the Boros invasion.
- One-Punch Man OVA (optional)
Six roughly ten-minute comedy shorts from the Japanese Blu-ray volumes. They're set between Season 1 episodes (after episodes 2, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 12), but watching them as a batch after the season is fine. Optional.
- One-Punch Man Season 2
J.C.Staff takes over with a new director, covering roughly chapters 38–84: King, the hero hunter Garou, the Super Fight tournament and the start of the Monster Association arc. A Season 1 recap special aired the week before; skip it.
- One-Punch Man Season 2 OVA (optional)
Six more comedy shorts from the Season 2 Blu-rays, again set between episodes (two before the season's first episode, two after its second, one after its third and one after the finale). Optional.
- One-Punch Man Season 3
The first half of Season 3, still at J.C.Staff with director Shinpei Nagai. The heroes raid the Monster Association's base, and it ends in the middle of the arc. A Season 2 recap special aired the week before; skip it. Part 2 is due in January 2027.
Release order
Everything in the order it came out. Road to Hero came out in December 2015, in the middle of the Season 1 Blu-ray releases that carried the OVA shorts.

Explained
Why does Season 2 look different?
Madhouse animated Season 1; J.C.Staff made Seasons 2 and 3 with different directors, and many fans find the later seasons flatter. Season 2 is still the only adaptation of that part of the story, and Season 3 carries straight on from it, so don't skip it. If it bothers you, the manga from chapter 38 covers the same ground.
Are the OVAs and Road to Hero canon?
They're light side stories that don't affect the main plot, so treat them as optional. Road to Hero is a prequel showing Saitama before Season 1, but it works best after you know him. The two recap specials that aired before Seasons 2 and 3 only repeat earlier episodes.
Webcomic or manga?
The anime adapts Yusuke Murata's manga, a redrawn and expanded version of ONE's original webcomic. The two tell the same broad story but add, reorder and number things differently: the Monster Raid and Super Fight chapters, for example, are manga-only. Chapter numbers in this guide are manga chapters.
What's next?
Season 3 stopped halfway through the Monster Association arc. Its second part, which leads into the Saitama vs. Garou climax, is set to air from January 2027 with the same studio and director.
