Reborn! watch order

Hopeless middle schooler Tsuna Sawada learns he's the heir to the Vongola, Italy's most powerful mafia family, and gets a tutor: Reborn, a hitman in the body of a baby. Akira Amano's manga became one 203-episode anime (2006–10) that starts as a gag comedy and turns into a battle series.

First time? Watch Reborn! from episode 1 and give it until the Kokuyo arc at episode 20, where it becomes an action story. Skip the filler if you like, and after episode 203 continue with the manga from chapter 283.

First-timer order

Just the manga story: the full series without the two anime-only arcs (142–153 and 178–189). Add them back if you want more of the cast; they're the best-liked filler in the show.

  1. Reborn! (episodes 1–73) TV, 2006–08, 73 episodes

Daily-life comedy (1–19), then the Kokuyo arc (20–26), where the show turns into a battle series, and the Varia or Ring Conflict arc (34–65). Episodes 27–33 and 66–73 return to daily-life stories between arcs. Episode 56 is filler.

  2. Reborn! (episodes 74–141) TV, 2008–09, 68 episodes

The Future arc: Tsuna and his friends are sent ten years ahead into a future where the Vongola is being wiped out by the Millefiore Family. Episodes 97 and 119 are filler, and 141 is part filler as it leads into the anime-only arc.

  3. Reborn! (episodes 154–177): Choice TV, 2009–10, 24 episodes

Back to the manga: the Choice battle against the Millefiore and its aftermath. Episodes 154 and 177 are still filler, and 155 is mixed.

  4. Reborn! (episodes 190–203): Future Final Battle TV, 2010, 14 episodes

The last fight with Byakuran and the end of the Future arc (episode 190 is mixed). It ends at manga chapter 282, volume 30, and the anime stops there.

Story order

The TV series in order, with the two anime-only arcs where they aired, and the comedy extras at the end because they don't fit the plot (the interview shorts include Future-arc characters).

  3. Reborn! (episodes 142–153): Arcobaleno Trials (optional) TV, 2009, 12 episodes

An anime-only arc in which the Arcobaleno test the Vongola before the Choice battle. It's filler, but well liked and gives the Arcobaleno more screen time. Skippable.

  4. Reborn! (episodes 154–177): Choice TV, 2009–10, 24 episodes

Back to the manga: the Choice battle against the Millefiore and its aftermath. Episodes 154 and 177 are still filler, and 155 is mixed.

  5. Reborn! (episodes 178–189): Primo Family (optional) TV, 2010, 12 episodes

A second anime-only arc, in which the spirits of the first-generation Vongola test Tsuna's guardians. Later manga chapters contradict parts of it, so treat it as non-canon. Skippable.

  6. Reborn! (episodes 190–203): Future Final Battle TV, 2010, 14 episodes

The last fight with Byakuran and the end of the Future arc (episode 190 is mixed). It ends at manga chapter 282, volume 30, and the anime stops there.

  7. Here Comes a Vongola Family-Style School Trip! (optional) OVA, 2009, 1 episode

A 26-minute comedy shown at the Jump Super Anime Tour in autumn 2009, then put online and on DVD in 2010. Tsuna's family and the Varia go on a school trip that turns into hot-spring brawls and a talent contest. Not part of the story; watch it whenever you like.

  8. Mr. Rebokku no Ciao Ciao Interview (optional) Special, 2010, 3 episodes

Three 3-minute DVD shorts in which Reborn, in disguise as a talk-show host, interviews characters including Byakuran, so save them for after the Future arc. A comedy extra.

Explained

Which episodes are filler?

Filler sites agree on 56, 97, 119, 142–154 and 177–189, with 141, 155 and 190 mixed. That's about 29 of 203 episodes, so watching straight through is fine too. The two long blocks, 142–153 and 178–189, are anime-only arcs that give the Arcobaleno and the first-generation Vongola backstory; many fans enjoy them, but the manga later contradicts parts of the Primo Family arc.

The first episodes are just gags. Does it change?

Yes. Episodes 1–19 are mostly one-off comedy about Reborn's training and Tsuna's new friends. The Kokuyo arc at episode 20 turns it into a fighting series, and from the Varia arc onward it's mostly long battle arcs, with short comedy breaks in between.

Where does the anime end, and where do I start the manga?

The anime ends with the Future arc at chapter 282 (volume 30). Start the manga at chapter 283, 'Simon Middle School'. Two arcs were never animated: the Inheritance Ceremony (Shimon Family) arc and the final Curse of the Rainbow arc, which ends the manga at chapter 409 (42 volumes). Viz's English print edition stopped early, around volume 16, so the unanimated part has no official English print release.

Is there an English dub?

Mostly no. The series is subtitled on Crunchyroll and has been on free channels. Discotek's 2024 fan disc added an English dub of the tour OVA and three episodes (1, 20 and 77) only.

Is more anime coming?

A new anime project was announced in December 2025 to mark the TV anime's 20th anniversary in 2026. The announcement didn't say whether it's a remake or a continuation of the unanimated arcs, so check official news before assuming either.
